About Dr. Vivek Nangia
Dr. Vivek Nangia, is an internationally renowned Pulmonologist, with over two and half decades of rich clinical experience. After passing out from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Dr. Nangia completed his MBBS from Aligarh Muslim University in 1993 and MD in TB & Respiratory Diseases in 1996. He is amongst the first few in the country to have integrated Critical Care and Sleep Disorders into his clinical practice. During his illustrious career, he has served as Head and Director at three most renowned hospitals including the Batra Hospital and Medical Research Center, Fortis Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Hospital, and Max Hospitals, Delhi. Various other positions held by him include Chairman of Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Co-Chairperson of Incident Review Committee, Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Co-Chairperson of the Hospital Infection Control Committee and Antimicrobial Stewardship program Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, ,Member of the Fortis Regional Medical Council for Delhi NCR and Independent Director on Board of Cosmo Films Ltd,, New Delhi. He is also member of the jury for the prestigious Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation Awards for Healthcare Excellence.
Education
He is the only pulmonologist in the country with formal education in Infectious Diseases. He has successfully completed first a Diploma and then M.Sc in Infectious Diseases from London University, UK. He has a stellar professional background and has undergone extensive training in various fields like Interventional Pulmonology in Barcelona, Sleep Medicine at Stanford University, USA; Pediatric Pulmonology at Royal Brompton Hospital, London; Critical Care at Cleveland Clinics, USA; He is a pioneer of Medical Thoracoscopy in Delhi which he started doing way back in 2003-4. He holds special interest in nutrition of the critically ill and has undergone training in this field in Mumbai.

- Vocational Excellence Award for working beyond the call of duty during COVID 19 pandemic by Rotary Club, Delhi, “Most Inspiring Doctor” in the country award by ET Now (2022).

Accomplishments
He has unparalalled organizational skills and was a joint secretary for the Broncocon 2005 and has Single handedly organized and conducted “Conclave on OPD infections” in Aug 2015 and then Pneumologica 2023, a conference focusing on Precision Medicine in August 2023 in Delhi
He is a revered DNB teacher and has played the pivotal role of mentoring many postgraduate students since the early 2000s . He was honored to deliver the S K Sarkar oration at 2018 and Broncocon Prof Dr P S Shankar and Prof Dr K C Mohanty oration at NAPCON 2022.
He has been a member of the various guideline forming committees at national and international level including management of Invasive Candidiasis in Intensive Care Units in the Asia-Pacific Region, Diagnosis and Treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in Resource Constrained Settings, Bronchoscopy in COVID patients, EBUS guidelines for India, Bronchoscopic Lung Cryobiopsy guidelines and Medical Thoracoscopy guidelines for India.
He has played pivotal role in advocating and promoting AntiMicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program and has been invited as a faculty to deliver lectures and conduct workshops at several national and international forums. He has been actively involved in promoting vaccinations in adults and is the first trustee of Forum for Adult Immunization Towards Health (FAITH). He is an active member of the Expert Committee of the Global Coalition Against TB (GCAT), a body committed to policy making towards control and prevention of Tuberculosis by bringing together parliamentarians, policy makers and healthcare professionals. He has been a member of the governing council of Indian Association for Bronchology (IAB) and is currently the Vice President of IAB and member of executive committee of Hospital Infection Society, India (HISI).
Others
He has many publications in peer reviewed journals and chapters in text books to his credit and has co-authored a book titled “Sleep Related Breathing Disorders”. He has been invited for innumerable guest lectures at local, Regional and international level on an array of topics related to Pulmonary, Sleep, Interventional Pulmonology, Critical Care Medicine & Infectious Diseases.
With his dedication and compassion and contribution to the medical research, healthcare advocacy, humanitarian efforts and personalized medicine, he has touched the many lives, saved innumerable lives and improved the quality of life for countless individuals.
